Offer mental health, substance use and addictive disorders intervention and treatment as an essential team capacity.

July – Oct 2016

  • Orient BH clinicians to working in primary care including, culture, pace and typical workflows
  • Offer “brown bag” consultation for clinical therapists practicing in primary care settings
  • Train and coach BH Clinicians in use of motivational interviewing
  • Assess team members’ knowledge, skills and attitudes regarding substance use and addictive disorders and provide training and mentoring to ensure evidence-based intervention and treatment capacity
    • Include role of medications in SUD treatment

Oct 2016 – Feb 2018

  • Focusing on TP, provide training in brief treatment and use of group therapy for MH and SUD in an integrated health care setting
  • Offer “brown bag” consultation for clinical therapists practicing in primary care including brief treatment
  • Train and coach BH Clinicians to provide clinical consultation
  • Train and coach in use of BH clinical skills/strategies to support and sustain behavior change
  • Continue to train and coach BH Clinicians in offering evidence based treatment of substance use and addictive disorders
  • Train clinicians in best behavioral interventions/ support pain management practices

Feb – July 2018

  • HCO designs, develops and begin to test and implement a plan to increase BH treatment ca­pacity in primary care clinic for all population, in­cluding funding strategies
